GPM had their annual Orphans’ Christmas party last month at the Glory Power Center (GPC) in Magona, South Africa. Eighty orphans were treated extra special. They received presents, food parcels, clothes, a hot meal, sweets and had plenty of fun and got a lot of loving. Pastors Patrick and wife, Bonghi (pictured with orphans), along with many volunteers did a great job organizing the party.
Many of these children live in orphan-headed households, where the oldest child, some as young as 13, takes care of their younger siblings. The parents usually pass from AIDS, which is still rampant, especially in rural areas of South Africa. These orphans have been traumatized and many live in squalid conditions, even if they live with an elderly grandparent, who is also usually impoverished.
The children were so appreciative of the party and the help that GPM provides them, as evidenced by the smiles from these precious children pictured. They also had fun playing at the playground at the GPC.
This party was funded by the Giving Tuesday fundraiser last month. Again, we thank all of those who generously participated to help make Christmas special for these dear children.
GPM has built several orphans’ homes for these children, including in the GPM’s orphans village adjacent to the GPC in Magona. GPM is working on starting a Christ-centered school for the orphans in the village, as well as build more homes in the village which would also include house parents living in the village to care for the orphans.
God will make GPM’s vision come true! Please pray that God provide for these cherished children. Thank you and God bless you!
