Over 250 Destitute Families Given Groceries by GPM

meily_parcelsLast Saturday, GPM was able to distribute staple corn meal and groceries for over 250 destitute and hungry families in the village of Magona, South Africa. These people are the poorest of the poor, especially because of the coronavirus lockdown and the government unable to help.

Besides the corn meal, the groceries included potatoes, spinach, onions, tomatoes, two loaves of bread, pasta, a sack of oranges, fish oil, margarine, milk, juice, sugar, salty, toothpaste and some money for phone data. The corn meal and groceries are enough to feed each family of four for at least two weeks. Pastor Patrick of GPM is pictured with some of the prepared food parcels in front of Chief Magona’s house.

Mayor Maluleke of the municipality district (which has over 500,000 people) and Chief Magona helped with the distribution. (See picture of the Mayor, in black, and the Chief to the right of him, then Patrick, before the distribution). They were very pleased and happy that GPM provided for their people. The Mayor said GPM was doing a big service to the government which is unable to meet the dire needs of the nation. All of GPM’s pastors, led by Pastor Patrick, helped with the distribution. (Some are pictured after buying some of the groceries for food parcel distribution.)

Many orphans, widows and other destitute were given food parcels during the day. Some of their stories:

meily_nwayitelo

The girl pictured (with the Chief’s sister, Betty, and Pastor Patrick) is orphan Nwayitelo, whose parents died when she was a small girl. She has lived with her granny for some years, who also died recently. She now lives with an uncle. She was so thankful to get the food from GPM since she goes without meals sometimes. She says she is happy that she will eat well now.

Orphan Musa Mathevula is pictured in the red shorts with Pastor Patrick. Musa has been penniless for awhile since the lockdown because he can not even get scarce little jobs like before. He was so thankful to GPM for providing much needed food, as he had none.

Pictured in front of the metal door is Mrs. Twhala. She is a widow with two boys who can not work because of the lockdown. She was so happy and thankful for the food from GPM.

meily_ndyivo

Orphan Ndyivo, in the tank top, is a young man who lives with his granny. His granny’s government pension is not enough to buy food for the family, so Ndyivo goes hungry often. He was so thankful for the food from the “church of Glory Power.”

There are many more stories such as these from impoverished people – see pictures. GPM would like to do another food distribution within the next month in other villages where GPM has churches. Please pray that God provide for these hungry people. Thank you to those who helped these precious people in Magona with your support. They also said to say, “THANK YOU!” You are doing this “as unto Jesus.”
