New GPM Water Well for Widows, Orphans, Pastors and Destitute

GPM recently had a new water well (also called a bore hole in South Africa) dug that serves the Glory Power Center (GPC), the GPM Orphans Village and the church parsonage, which are all in Magona, South Africa. The well also serves the Magona community, including widows who sometimes could not afford water! See drilling for well below.

Most people in Magona (and other villages) normally get their water every morning from a central water well where they fill large drums and containers with water that they bring back to their respective huts in wheelbarrows. Before GPM built this new well, the nearest well for much of the community in Magona was 30 to 40 minutes away by foot, where they also had to pay for the water. This daily process is hard for us to imagine in the U.S. BUT NOW, THE POOR IN MAGONA CAN GET WATER FROM THE WELL THAT GPM JUST BUILT – FOR FREE (and for MANY of them a very small distance to walk to get the water)!!!!!!!

With the new water well, GPM also had indoor plumbing installed in the church parsonage where GPC Pastors Patrick and his wife, Bonghi, and their daughter, Sarah, live. GPM also had a kitchen sink and a bathroom (see below) installed in the parsonage, giving the pastors indoor running water for the first time! The pastors are ecstatic that they now have running water! They said, “WE CAN NOT THANK GOD ENOUGH AND THE GLORY POWER SUPPORTERS FOR GIVING US THIS BLESSING.”

Also, the orphans in the adjacent GPM Orphans Village are now able to more easily get their water each day!

Pictured is a widow (in yellow shirt), Mrs Deshani, with her daughter getting water from the storage tank of the water well (next to the parsonage) that GPM just built. She is so thankful for the free water and the fact that it is nearby. She and another widow named Vongani both said that they now do not have to go 40 minutes to get their water everyday and are also so thankful this water is free. Vongani said, “BEFORE, WHEN MY FRIENDS AND I DID NOT HAVE MONEY, WE WOULD GO WITHOUT WATER!”

GPM thanks God for the privilege of providing the Magona community, the orphans and pastors with the gift of water. GPM believes that through this physical water well in Magona, many people will also experience the Living Water that Jesus provides, just like the Samaritan woman at the well!
