Many Young Lives Changed Through GPM Sunday School Conference

ssconf_ceiling
GPM churches in South Africa recently had a Sunday School Conference at the the Glory Power Center in the village of Block D. Over 175 children came, ages 8 to 13. This is amazing considering that transportation from the different villages is expensive. The theme of the conference was to fear (reverence) the Lord.

Most of these children come from fatherless homes and many are orphans. The children also grow up in an environment and culture where stealing, lying and early sexual activity are normal. These children were taught at the conference and regularly at GPM churches to let Jesus live a pure and godly life through them. Some testimonies from children at the conference (corrected for grammar):

ssconf_newblessing

“I am Blessing (in white dress) and am 10 years old. I learned that God is watching me in everything – when I lie to someone, when I steal. We must love others, we must take care of ourselves.”

“I am Peace (pictured in white tank top) from Magona Sunday School. I’m 10 years old. I learned a lot of things at the Sunday School Conference. We must not steal when our parents tell us to go and buy at the shop. I must attend the Sunday school services. I am to respect everyone.”

I’m Tshobelo (in polo shirt) from Magona. I’m 12 years old. I learned a lot from the Sunday School Conference. We must not steal, we must be nice to our parents, if someone has no food at school, we must give to each other. We must pray every day.
Proverbs 22:6 says,
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

The Sunday School Conference included teachers who are gifted teaching children. One of the teachers was Pastor Joyce, an associate pastor at the Glory Power Center in Magona. She is pictured teaching the children at the conference. Joyce has a gift of memorizing many scriptures. She regularly teaches children to memorize Bible verses, including at this conference. Joyce is so happy and thankful that GPM lets her use her gift.

In fact, Joyce has taught her 10 year son, Muhluri, to memorize 22 Bible verses. Muhluri is pictured on stage reciting verses to the children. Joyce says her son is very respectful to her and lives to please Jesus. Psalms 119:11 says,
“I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.”

GPM loves to replace a bad foundation in children’s lives with a godly foundation. Please pray that these children continue to grow up to love Jesus and that God will provide for GPM to supply much more teaching materials for these precious kids.
